What are some great parenting books that "tell it like it is" and provide practical suggestions? Here are my faves, tried and true.

For Parents of Elementary School Kids

1 2 3 magic changed the way I interacted with my daughter when her behavior was less than stellar. It keeps you from yelling, which is great! I highly recommend this book for all parents whose kids drive them a little bit crazy now and then - or a lot bit crazy!

Paperback 1-2-3 Magic : Effective Discipline for Children 2-12 Book

For Parents of Middle School Kids

How to Hug a Porcupine is the book you need to read if you are parenting tweenagers who can get a little prickly! This book helps parents gain perspective and learn more about what our tweenagers are going through and offers helpful, realistic advice.

Paperback How to Hug a Porcupine : Negotiating the Prickly Points of the Tween Years Book

For Parents of High School Kids

How to Raise an Adult is an amazing guide to get you through these challenging years. They are kid one minute, and a semi-adult the next. This book offers thoughtful ways to handle parenting as we get ready to launch our children into the real world. Here's a link to a New York Times Book Review to get you started.

Need a gift idea for a teenage girl? Birch Box is a monthly subscription of beauty products and costs about $10-$15/month.

I have four girls, and they sure do like their make up, lotions and body sprays! I was stuck for what to get as a birthday gift one year, and decided on a subscription to Birch Box for my then 16-year-old. She loves all of the products that come inside, and even shares with her sisters! Here's my affiliate link if you are interested https://www.birchbox.com/invite/d5nhw

Want to earn cash back when you shop online?

Ebates changed the way I shop online. I can't believe it has taken me until now to sign up, and I encourage you to use Ebates starting RIGHT NOW. It's simple - use my affiliate link and we both get some extra cash - then when you download the free Ebates app, use it every time you shop online at one of the of the hundreds of stores they are connected to. You will earn a percentage back from any purchases made through Ebates that meet their criteria. So, instead of opening the Target app, you'd open Ebates, and then choose Target. Totally worth it. Happy shopping and earning!
